in loving memory

Argos in 1997.
Argos, after Odysseus's faithful dog. When Odysseus returned home from the Odyssey, Argos chose to wag his tail and die--rather than bark and give Odysseus away to Penelope's suitors--to express his excitement at his master's return after twenty years' absence.
Perseus, after the Perseid meteor showers in mid-August. We adopted Argos around the time of the 1993 Perseids, which were particularly bright. He acquired his name from his love of running through the house like a shooting star.
