HD 209458b Results
(1) HD 209458b is known to transit, and has been observed worldwide by amateurs and professionals alike. An excellent recent summary of existing observations is given here.
(2) Older Transitsearch.org information regarding the HD 209458b transits is located here.
(3) The first known amateur observations of an HD 209458 b transit were made on September 16, 2000, by a group from the Nyrola Observatory in Finland. The observers included Marko Moilanen, Jalo Ojanpera, Jouni Sorvari, Aki Id, and Arto Oksanen. A detailed write-up of their observations is given here. Reports of this observation inspired the creation of the transitsearch.org project.
(4) A number of US amateurs, including Ron Bissinger (Pleasanton, CA) and Bruce Gary (Santa Barbara, CA) have observed HD 209458b transits. A link to a detailed description of Bruce Gary's observations is here.
(3) Prof. Shigeru Ida (Tokyo Institute of Technology) reports that Japanese amateur Osamu Ohshima has recently obtained excellent photometry of a HD 209458b transit. Ohshima's results (in English) are here. The web page also contains a link to a Japanese-language version.
(4) Hungarian amateur Zsolt Kereszty, of the Corona Borealis Observatory in Gyorujbarat, reports a detailed account of his successful photometric observations of an HD209458b transit here (website contains notes in both English and Hungarian).
(5) Swedish Amateur Anders Nyholm, of the Astronomical Society Tycho Brahe, reports observations of an October 2003 HD 209458b transit, "A shadow over Oxie - An October 2003 amateur observation of HD 209458b". His very useful description and discussion is available at: http://tsunami.hkr.se/files/tsunami20040303_copy.pdf
(6) Szymon Kozlowski, a PhD student at Jodrell Bank Observatory UK reports HD 209458 b transit observations made at the University of Zielona Gora, Poland, with a 14'' MEade LX200GPS, and a SBIG ST-8XE CCD. More details are given on his webpage.
(7) Dr. Thierry Lepine of the Ecole Superieure d'Optique reports a successful HD 209458 b transit observation using a new rooftop photometric observatory. A detailed description of the observations and the observatory is given (in French) at: http://astrosurf.com/lepine/eso/intro.html
