I haven't had time to update or HTML-ify the Fosql
package manual. I'd like to get to it soon, but for the moment I'll just
refer you to it as
Plain Text
It's not pretty, but it tells you everything I thought was important about the Forms package when the first release was complete. There has never been another major release of Forms, though there have been some minor feature enhancements over the last 3 years. The manual is still about 90 percent accurate.
If you want to know what Forms looks like, go visit the Forms Photo Gallery. You'll find a series of screendumps with a little narration tying them together.
In a nutshell, what was cool about Fosql was that the forms definitions were stored as data in tables in the database. As little hard code was written as possible, and it was easy to make sweeping changes to nomenclature, function and appearance by means of SQL access to the database. Of course, there is a form for looking at the Forms table, so Fosql achieved a pleasing degree of self-referentiality.
The package has stood up well under hard use here. A second release would be nice, but there's no strong motivation since it works well enough as is.
Forms (Fosql) is free. You can pick up the Forms preDistribution from us.
