There will be a total of 5 homework assignments for this class. Together, they are worth 30% of your final grade. You may work together on the assignments, however you must each submit your own write-up of the assignment, without copying from others. Please be sure to write answers to essay and short-answer questions neatly and using proper English. For mathematical questions, please detail each step of the calculation, even if it seems obvious to you, so as to ensure you get full credit for the problem.

Homework assignments will be posted to the website after they are handed out in class. If you have questions, please e-mail me at , or come see me during office hours. I will not answer questions about the homework the morning they are due, so be sure to start the problems early so you can ask questions if you get stuck. A penalty of one full letter grade per day will be assessed to any homework assignment turned in late. Homeworks turned in after solutions have been distributed will not receive any credit.
