All other galaxies in the Universe are moving away from the Milky Way; does that mean we are at the center of the expanding universe?

Hi Madeline,

The galaxies, including the Milky Way where we live, are all moving
away from each other. This does not mean, however, that one
galaxy lies at the center of expansion. In this way, the
universe is like a bunch of flies sitting on the surface of a balloon.
As the balloon is inflated, the flies get further and further away
from each other, but no one fly is at the center of expansion.

I hope this answers your question.

Best wishes,
-Neal.
