How can I compute the number of daylight hours for a given date at a given location?

Hi Steve,

You can calculate the number of daylight hours for U.S. locations
including Alaska using the form at www.whnt19.com/weather/sun_set.htm.

For information on how the calculation works and how to do a version
of it yourself, try www.math.unl.edu/~bharbour/M106/Proj1.html.
The references at the bottom of the page are good too.

To find these, I used www.yahoo.com to search for pages containing all
three phrases: +latitude +"summer solstice" +"daylight hours"

Best wishes,
-Neal.
