Where can I find out what the lunar phase is, and when to look for the moon?

Hello Marshall,

You can find out the phase of the moon for any time of the
year at the following web site:

http://tycho.usno.navy.mil/vphase.html

Most calendars will also note the phase of the moon.
Today is "new moon", so you won't see the moon at all -
it is between us and the Sun. You can begin looking next
week for the first quarter moon in the afternoon. It
will be following the sun as the sun sets.
