Gee, I have to admit I have not heard that before. Let me see if I can
speculate about whether or not I believe this. The reason that an egg
tips over is that it is unstable equilibrium - the center of gravity for
the egg is not precisely over the contact point between the egg and the
table. Because the egg has a rounded bottom, the slightest deviation from
it's equilibrium will offer no resistance to the gravitational torque.
The question is, will the fact that the sun is directly over the earths
equator have any effect on the conditions that I mentioned above. I am
inclined to think that it will not.
