Hello Johan,
I am working on the project to detect extrasolar planets with radial
velocity measurements (the doppler technique). There are no
direct images of these planets. We have estimates of the mass of the
planet, we know it's separation from the star, but is not possible to
see these planets. They are very far from the Sun and are not resolvable
in the bright light of the star they orbit.
There are other techniques that will try to obtain images of planets
around very close stars, and I hope that the next 10 years will bring these
pictures!
Best Wishes,
Debra Fischer
