Portrait Marcel Zemp

Hi - Welcome to my webpage!

I moved to Santa Cruz in sunny California in October 2006 for a postdoc position at the Department for Astronomy & Astrophysics at University of California Santa Cruz. In September 2006, I finished my doctorate in science at the Institute of Astronomy at ETH Zurich with Marcella Carollo and with Ben Moore at the Institute for Theoretical Physics at University Zurich. In September 2008, I'll move to Ann Arbor in order to work with Oleg Gnedin at the University of Michigan.

Check out my pages about astrophysics or music. If you want to know more about me go to the about me page.

"Physics is like sex: sure, it may give some practical results, but that's not why we do it."
Richard Feynman

"It is also a good rule not to put too much confidence in observational results that have been put forward until they are confirmed by theory."
Sir Arthur Eddington

"We do not know anything - this is the first. Therefore, we should be very modest - this is the second. Not to claim that we do know when we do not - this is the third. That's the kind of attitude I'd like to popularize. There is little hope for success."
Karl Popper
