Academic Webpage Support
Robin Witmore, Publications and Web Specialist, alters faculty webpages upon request. Common requests include text, photo, and format updates, creation of downloadable graphics in various resolutions, adding links to class and academic materials.
All UCO affiliates may have a link to their UCO-based personal homepage from the UCO/Lick Individual Homepages webpage. Email your url to Robin at webeditor@ucolick.org.
Graphics Support
Robin assists academics in creating print, presentation (powerpoint), and web graphics. She scans, modifies, sharpens, color corrects, and prints or distributes per your instructions. A variety of file formats and resolutions are available.
Page Charge and Reprint Forms
Robin processes page charge and reprint forms for you, ensuring timely publication of your papers. You may bring forms to the Publications Office, ISB Room 155. If you prefer, email the information below to robin@ucolick.org (forward your emailed acceptance letter), or use the publications webform.
Required information:
- manuscript number
- complete title
- complete author list
- journal
- number of pages, color figures, etc.
- how many reprints,s if any
- charge splits (author and institution), if any
- funding information (which grant or PI?)
Robin will obtain a PO number and forward the page charge form to the publisher and any charge-splitting institutions. She also ensures that the publisher bills you correctly and supplies the correct number of legibly printed reprints.
Publications Distribution
When a lead author orders reprints, Publications distributes them to coauthors per your instructions. Cost of mailing the reprints to co-authors is covered by the Publications Office.
Publications Assistant Rob Gargett in ISB 154 will also mail out reprints or other published materials to lists of recipients, using your mail code. Email him at rgargett@ucolick.org.
Technical Reports
UCO/Lick Observatory Technical Reports (LOTRs) are mostly data and procedure manuals for Lick Observatory telescopes and instruments, written by our technicians and astronomers. The Publications Office provides these to observers and technicians at no charge. To receive a report, email the report title or number plus your mailing address to robin@ucolick.org. If you prefer, stop by the Publications Office, ISB Room 155, on the UCSC campus, to browse the available Reports. View list of current Technical Reports.
