COSMOS Cluster 10 Project on Globular Clusters

Students: Marbella Rodriguez and Marvin Cruz

Instructor: Scott Seagroves

What the project is

Background/Plan
This page has some information we discussed about Color-Magnitude Diagrams, and using them to find age and distance.

Data From Our Observing Run
This has links to all the data we took on our observing run. There are some example bias frames and flat-fields, and then all the images we took of globular clusters and standard stars. All the data are given in before-and-after form so you can show the difference that bias-correction and flat-fielding makes.
This page might load very slowly because it has so many pictures.

Doing Photometry
This page talks briefly about measuring the magnitudes of our stars, and has a couple example images.

Making our CMD (and making it better)
This page has our first CMD and our cleaned-up one.

Analyzing our CMD for Age and Distance
This page has our work on M5 to get the age and distance from the CMD.

Color Image of M5
This page has our side-project, making a color image of M5.

Presentation
This is the PowerPoint presentation on open and globular clusters prepared by my students and Stu's. Since this is the output of a Microsoft product, the resulting HTML is highly suspect. Use at your own risk.

Outside Links
This page has links to more information that you may or may not find useful.
