I'm a third year graduate student of Astronomy and Astrophysics at UCSC. I was born in Chile, a very long country in South America known for its good wine production and, in Astronomy, by the large telescopes that take advantage of our clear northern sky.
I did my undergraduate studies in Astronomy at the Engineering School of the Universidad de Chile.
In 2006 I came to Santa Cruz after being awarded a Fulbright - Conicyt scholarship for PhD. studies in Science and Technology.
My main interest in Astronomy is Galaxy formation and Evolution, specially during the first 2 billion years of the Universe. I'm currently working with Professor Garth Illingworth, Rychard Bouwens, and Ivo Labbe, studying the properties of the most distant galaxies we can access with the current technology. We use two of the most powerful instruments, the HST and the Spitzer space telescopes to observe galaxies at very high redshift and try to model the properties of their Stellar populations.
