AO Stage Notes

Two tables are included here.  The first table identifies the stage names used for each stage in the AO system in the "motorDatabase" config file, an existing "Motor Data" AO webpage, and in the Lick Schematic (EL-1334) for the AO system electronics.  Proposed Memes database keyword names are also included  for each stage.  Differences in the stage names and stage locations are noted with reasons or questions regarding the differences.  The Memes database is the location where all software configuration information for recent instruments exists, it will not be used initially for the AO system.   The second table describes stage configurations and basic status information regarding the mechanical, electrical and software components of the AO system.

Notes:

  1. Wrong encoder type installed (wrong read heads).
  2. No limits to be added.  No signal available for a home reference.

Software status:

Config file - Stage configuration file created by hand.  Most of the entries are required
                     for simple control needs.  A few additional entries (or changes) are required
                     for renishaw and limit support.  These configuration files will eventually
                     be created from data in the Memes database.

Simple control - No limits, no renishaws assumed.

                            Home faked, home position set to predefined offset.   Stages
                            configured to do simple moves only using motor encoder as are
                            done now.   Renishaws readable, if they are connected to the
                            controller.

Renishaw support - Uses renishaw encoder in stage control loop.

Limit support - Allows automatic homing of stages.  Provides primary limits of stage motion
