Problem: Cal Y Motor Failure

Manifestation:

In Shane AO motor control GUI:
  • Motor fails to move, ceases moving, fails to calibrate or acheive commanded position.
  • Detail panel reports off-on-error message.
  • In detail panel, CALYRAW value does not change.
  • In detail panel, CALYGTE achieves a value of 1000.
  • No indication that motor is moving.

Solution/Recovery:

  • Cal Y motor corresponds to Galil 2, stage F (saomot2).

Intervention:

If attempts at above solution/recovery are unsuccessful.
  • Locate, inspect re-seat cables/connections to Galil.
  • Attempt re-calibration of function.
  • If continued failure:

    user@shred.ucolick.org > ao restart saomot2

    Then, re-attempt re-calibration of function.
  • Consider lubricating motor stage and/or associated limit switches.

Cause:

  • Loose connection (of little card attached to Galil for I/O). Attachment screws not engaged securely. Large cable loom in physical contact with this component.
  • Possible binding of motor stage and/or associated limit switches.
