SHARCS Problem: Error Setting Keyword GO:SHARCS Error (14)

Manifestation:

  • Attempts to take exposure in sharcs_fe are met with error of the following form:

       Error setting keyword GO:SHARCS Error (14): File C:\SHARCSColdSidecarControlConfig.xml could not be found (on stealthie).

  • Error(s) of the following form:

       Error reading sidecar configuration file:
       Error opening Sidecar Control Configuration file. Error parsing Sidecar Control
       Configuration file. There is an error in XML document <3, 2>

  • Hallmarks of corruption of stealthie filesystems.

Solution/Recovery:

  • AsicCfg file name in the sharcs_fe Setup GUI is read from a keyword in the sharcs dispatcher service. Examining the ASICCFG keyword history and reveals that the current file did not match what was used in 2021 and early 2022. Update ASICCFG to C:\startup\SHARCSColdControlConfig.xml to match was was set in 2021.
  • Copy identically-named file to C:\ directory: Copies of the correct file exist in the LOOT CVS repository. We also have copies of copies of the stealthie disks at various points in time. From those stealthie disk copies, it appears that a correct copy of SHARCSColdSidecarControlConfig.xml exists in C:\ircal-sidecar\HxRG_Config\. Thus;

       copy C:\ircal-sidecar\HxRG_Config\SHARCSColdSidecarControlConfig.xml C:\SHARCSColdSidecarControlConfig.xml

    • Cause:

      • ASICCFG file changed to incorrect C:\SHARCSColdSidecarControlConfig.xml. Suspect that in CVS there is something in the sharcs server that might have the incorrect file as a default.
      • Failing hard drive of stealthie.ucolick.org. Acquire replacement drive, clone the information on the backup drive to the new drive, then install the new drive in stealthie. Original drive is a Samsung FTM55C225H meaning it is a 2.5-inch 55GB SSD. Presently-installed drive (2022-07-XX) is Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250GB. Any available 2.5 inch SATA SSD should be indistinguishable.
