Image Sharpening

Introduction

Image sharpening procedure for afternoon optimization and on-sky optimization.

Standard Procedure:

  1. Configure calibration source: In Shane AO motor control Set Cal Y stage in
  2. Configure filters: FeII
  3. Configure detector window: start x = 1150, end x = 1249, start y = 650, end y = 749.
  4. Configure exposure parameters: Filter = Fe II; NCoadds = 3; Exposure = 0.2 s.
    • user@covert > scriptproc.tcl
    • File..., Source..., imagesharpen.tcl
    • Select/unselect desired Zernike modes and hit Go
    • Enter Hartman Slider file name (e.g. hs-20XX-XX-XX-<mode>), where <mode> can be cog (centre of gravity); bin (binned pixels); quad and Save.
      File is written to: gavel@real:/u/gavel/data/ and should be appended with a text string corresponding to the mode (e.g. _16xLGS.fits or _8xLGS.fits.
    • gavel@real.ucolick.org > ls -lrt /u/gavel/data - check the latest file written.
    • gavel@real.ucolick.org > genSkyRefcents <mode> <file> - Create reference centroids file for on sky operations for each mode, where mode can be either 16x or 8x.
    • gavel@real.ucolick.org > ls -lrt /u/gavel/data - check the latest file written, the latest file should be appended with a text string _onSky.fits
