For many years, I have been an active amateur astronomer.
I have been giving numerous talks in amateur astronomical associations and
at various meetings. I have also written many popular articles, mostly
about CCD image reductions, in a magazine for danish amateur astronomers,
``AmatørAstronomen'' (for which I was also a member of the editorial
staff). From 1995 until the publication of the magazine was stopped at
the end of 1998, I wrote the ``Solar System'' pages of each issue.
Some further highlights:
- 1989-1995: Member of the board of ``Astronomisk Forening for
Sydsjælland'' (The Astronomical Association of South Sealand).
- 1988-1993: Participated in a course on photoelectric
photometry at the Copenhagen Public University (``Folkeuniversitetet'').
Carried out a long-term monitoring project of the eclipsing binary
SAO 23229 using the Brorfelde 25 cm telescope.
- Active member of the ``Boserup Amateur Observatory'' (BAO) since
1990. Wrote data acquisition software for a CCD camera taken into
use in 1991 (as one of the first amateur observatories in Denmark). Wrote
a complete PC-based Telescope Control System for the telescope from
scratch, including an autoguider system based on a second small CCD
camera.
- 1998: ``Author of the Year 1997'' in Astronomisk Selskab
(the danish Astronomical Society) for
an article about the Magellanic Clouds in Astronomisk Tidsskrift.
