At yesterday's meeting of the Timing Subcommittee of the Civil GPS Service
Interface Committee, in Crystal City Virginia, Dennis McCarthy of the USNO,
who is chair of the IAU's committee on the leap second and a silent member
of this listserv, gave a brief presentation on the status of the efforts to
redefine UTC. The talk was similar in tone and content to his GPS World
article. There was little discussion afterwards.

Dennis's viewgraphs should at some point be available below
http://www.navcen.uscg.mil. Unfortunately NAVCEN's site got hacked, and
they are now working off a mirror site with limited disk space. They had
been planning on upgrade their site anyway, and the viewgraphs may have to
wait a few months for that to happen.
