Registration Deadline July 24, 2007
After a highly productive and illustrious life, Professor Donald E. Osterbrock died on January 11, 2007, in Santa Cruz, California. His widely-respected and influential academic career spanned the last fifty-five years, and he has had a major impact on a number of major research topics of modern astrophysics as well as on the lives of many students and other scholars. He has also made significant contributions to the study of the history of astronomy.
The Symposium will honor and celebrate his many accomplishments with a series of invited talks. The program will begin on the morning of August 2 and end after lunch on August 3. There will be a Symposium dinner on the first night. A final program Agenda is available here.
Parking and public transit information is available at http://www2.ucsc.edu/taps/pages/maps.html. We expect that shuttles will run from hotels to the symposium site, and details will be on Lodging and Transportation page when they become available.Lodging information and directions are provided. The directions to the Symposium were slightly modified on July 26, so please download again if you printed them prior to this. Please note: Campus housing is not available. Shuttle service is provided to and from the Coast Santa Cruz Hotel and the Hilton Santa Cruz/Scotts Valley.
