Grading
This class will have homeworks, quizzes, and a final exam.
The homeworks are optional, but should be useful for studying for the quizzes.
There will be 5 quizzes and your quiz score will be the average of the best 4.
Your grade in this class will be the maximum of two scores:
(a) 100% Quiz Score, (b) 100% Final Exam Score.
You do not need to take the final to pass if your quiz score
is sufficiently high to pass. Likewise, you do not have to do the
quizzes if you would like to only take the final (not advised).
Since there are multiple ways to pass this class, there will be no
makeup quizzes or finals. The grade cutoffs will be as follows:
A: Score >= 93
A-: Score >= 90
B+: Score >= 85
B: Score >= 80
B-: Score >= 75
C+: Score >= 67
C: Score >= 60
D: Score >= 50
F: Score < 50
The C cuttoff is passing. We choose not to give C-
grades because that is considered a failing grade. The B and A type
grade lower cuttoffs are the same. As you can see, plus and minus
grades have been specified
Observing Sessions
There will be an observing session at the Music Center Balcony on April
9th and May 7th at 8:00 PM.
For attending either of these you will receive 2 extra
credit points on top of your total score.
